Everything you can add, in one place.
Add-ons for a book or your account, the work you can hand to us, and the tools other companies make. Every price says what it covers and how long it lasts, and there is no subscription anywhere on this page.
The checklist, the directories, the guides, the glossary, and every explanation on this site are free to read without an account, and they stay that way. Nothing on this page is needed to use them: what you buy here is organization and work, never information.
Add to a book or your account
Each one says whether it attaches to one book or to your whole account, what it costs, and how long it lasts. Nothing renews on its own.
A book in your Author Profile
Adds one book to your free Author Profile, with the interactive tools for it.
What it covers: Its public book page and media kit, checklist progress, records, submissions, the outreach log, its publishing contacts, the automatic checks, and the advanced directory filters. One payment covers every edition and format of that title.
Attaches to one book.
$40, once per book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
Professional Search
The advanced directory filters, for using the whole AuthorChecklist database as a research tool.
What it covers: Several criteria at once, saved searches, saved lists, prospect lists, listing alerts, news alerts, and exports. It belongs to the account and never comes with a book.
Belongs to your whole account.
Professional Search: $75 a year. Until October 31, $50 for your first year.
Twelve months from the day you buy it. Nothing renews on its own.
Claim and verify your listing by October 31 and Professional Search is free for a year.
Get startedWhat it includesCollaborator invitation
Lets an editor, publicist, or anyone else you choose work in your Author Profile and the books you pick.
What it covers: One person. They can update statuses, dates, notes, submissions, and results, and edit the content of your public pages. Only you can publish pages, buy anything, or invite people. A seat is reusable: end one person's access and it is free to invite somebody else.
Belongs to your whole account.
$20, once per person
One payment. Nothing renews.
Work we do for you
The record and listing work, done by us and recorded in your Author Profile. Every one of them is work you can do yourself for nothing, and the checklist explains how.
Set It Up For Me
The records, the pages, and the plan for one book, done for you, recorded in your Author Profile.
What you receive: Every record we created or requested, linked and dated in your Author Profile, your published author page, book page, media kit, and identity sheet, and a plain list of anything still waiting on someone outside.
$250 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
Wikidata: you and your book
An item for you and an item for the book, linked to each other, with the identifiers we can verify.
What you receive: The item addresses, a list of every statement we added with its reference, and the same list recorded in your Author Profile.
$99 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We search Wikidata for an item for you and one for the book, correct what is already there rather than creating a duplicate, add the identifiers we can source with a reference for each, and link the two items to each other.
- What we need from you
- Your name as you publish under it, the book's identifiers, your website, and written permission to edit on your behalf under our own named editor account.
- What you receive
- The item addresses, a list of every statement we added with its reference, and the same list recorded in your Author Profile.
- What the outside platform controls
- Wikidata is an open community project. Volunteer editors decide what is notable enough to keep, and any statement or item can be changed, merged, or deleted by someone else afterwards. We cannot promise an item will be created or will stay.
- Typical timing
- Usually within two weeks of your materials arriving. A community discussion about notability can take longer, and we tell you when one opens.
- Outside fees
- None. Wikidata is free to edit.
- What counts as complete
- The edits are submitted and recorded in your Author Profile with their addresses and dates, and we have told you what each one says. If the community reverts or deletes something, we tell you what happened and what your options are, but we do not guarantee reinstatement.
- Price
- $99 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
ISNI search and request
A search for the author number you may already have, and the request filed if there is none.
What you receive: The search result with the records we found, the request reference if we filed one, and the number recorded in your Author Profile when it is issued.
$49 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We search the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) database under every form of your name, including the library shelf form, and if there is no record we file a request with your details and published works.
- What we need from you
- Your name in every form you have published under, your date of birth if you are willing to give it for disambiguation, and a list of your published works with their identifiers.
- What you receive
- The search result with the records we found, the request reference if we filed one, and the number recorded in your Author Profile when it is issued.
- What the outside platform controls
- The ISNI International Agency decides whether to assign a number, what form of your name it carries, and how long it takes. It can also merge or reassign records later.
- Typical timing
- The search is done within a week. An assignment can take several months, and the item in your checklist says what it is waiting on.
- Outside fees
- None for an author request made this way. If the agency ever charges for the route we use, we tell you the amount before filing and you decide.
- What counts as complete
- The search is documented and, where there was no record, the request is filed and its reference recorded. A number being issued is the agency's decision, not part of what you are buying.
- Price
- $49 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Canonical book identity sheet
The one page with every identifier, title form, and contributor, so every listing is copied from the same source.
What you receive: The identity sheet published on your media kit, the same data in your Author Profile, and a note of every place an existing record disagrees with it.
$49 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We build one sheet holding every identifier, every title and subtitle form, the contributors and their roles, the editions and their dates, and the publisher details, then check it against the records that already exist and note where they differ.
- What we need from you
- Your cover, the identifiers you hold, the copyright page, and the contributor names and roles as you want them credited.
- What you receive
- The identity sheet published on your media kit, the same data in your Author Profile, and a note of every place an existing record disagrees with it.
- What the outside platform controls
- Nothing. This sheet is yours and lives on this site. The records it is checked against belong to their own platforms.
- Typical timing
- Usually within one week of your materials arriving.
- Outside fees
- None.
- What counts as complete
- The sheet is published on your media kit, the differences we found are listed, and both are saved in your Author Profile.
- Price
- $49 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Media kit and bios
Your bio in three lengths, the book description, cover and headshot, and the facts a journalist or librarian asks for, on one page.
What you receive: A published media kit page at your own address, the three bios and the description saved as text you can copy anywhere, and the ability to edit every word yourself.
$99 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We write your bio at three lengths, set the book description and the facts a journalist or librarian asks for, place the cover and headshot, and publish the media kit page under your author page.
- What we need from you
- Your current bio or notes toward one, a headshot and cover you have the right to use, the book's details, and how you want to be contacted for press.
- What you receive
- A published media kit page at your own address, the three bios and the description saved as text you can copy anywhere, and the ability to edit every word yourself.
- What the outside platform controls
- Nothing. The page is on this site and under your control.
- Typical timing
- Usually within one week of your materials arriving, plus one round of changes.
- Outside fees
- None.
- What counts as complete
- The page is published, you have had one round of changes, and the text is saved in your Author Profile.
- Price
- $99 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Structured data for your website
The Book and Person markup search engines read, written for your site and tested.
What you receive: The tested snippet, the install instructions for your platform, and a copy in your Author Profile.
$79 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We write the Book and Person structured data (JSON-LD, the format search engines read) from your identity sheet, test it against Google's Rich Results Test, and write the install instructions for the platform your site runs on.
- What we need from you
- Your website address, which platform it runs on, and the book's details. We do not need a login for your site.
- What you receive
- The tested snippet, the install instructions for your platform, and a copy in your Author Profile.
- What the outside platform controls
- Search engines decide whether to use structured data at all and how anything appears in results. Correct markup is not a ranking or a knowledge panel.
- Typical timing
- Usually within one week.
- Outside fees
- None.
- What counts as complete
- The snippet passes the Rich Results Test with no errors, and you have it with instructions. Installing it on your site is yours to do, or we can walk you through it on the screen share.
- Price
- $79 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Media list by topic and audience
The outlets, podcasts, newsletters, and reviewers that cover what your book is about, with contact routes.
What you receive: A spreadsheet of at least 40 researched entries with the contact route for each, plus the same entries as custom tasks in your Author Profile.
$149 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We research outlets, podcasts, newsletters, and reviewers that cover your subject for the audience you want, and record for each one what they cover, who the audience is, how they take pitches, and something they have covered recently.
- What we need from you
- What the book is about, who you want it in front of, anywhere you have already been covered, and anyone you would rather we skip.
- What you receive
- A spreadsheet of at least 40 researched entries with the contact route for each, plus the same entries as custom tasks in your Author Profile.
- What the outside platform controls
- Every outlet decides on its own whether to open the email, reply, or cover the book. Nothing here buys coverage, and we do not sell placements.
- Typical timing
- Usually two weeks.
- Outside fees
- None. We do not buy list data.
- What counts as complete
- The spreadsheet is delivered and the tasks are in your Author Profile. Responses and coverage are not part of what you are buying.
- Price
- $149 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Outreach emails by audience
Pitch emails written for each audience on your list, ready to personalize and send.
What you receive: Five emails plus their follow-ups, saved as templates in your Author Profile and ready to personalize and send.
$99 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We write one pitch email for each audience (reviewers, podcasts, librarians, booksellers, the press), with subject lines and a follow-up, in your voice and from your book's own details.
- What we need from you
- The book's details, a sample of your own writing so we can match your voice, and anything you will not say about the book.
- What you receive
- Five emails plus their follow-ups, saved as templates in your Author Profile and ready to personalize and send.
- What the outside platform controls
- Nothing here is sent for you, and no recipient owes you a reply. Email providers and spam filters decide what lands in an inbox.
- Typical timing
- Usually one week, plus one round of changes.
- Outside fees
- None.
- What counts as complete
- The templates are in your Author Profile and you have had one round of changes.
- Price
- $99 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Library-ready book information sheet
The one-page sheet acquisitions librarians want: identifiers, subject headings, reviews, and how to order.
What you receive: A Portable Document Format (PDF) file you can attach to an email, the same sheet published on your media kit, and a copy in your Author Profile.
$49 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We write the one-page sheet acquisitions librarians ask for: identifiers, Book Industry Standards and Communications (BISAC) codes, subject headings, the reviews you already have, and how a library can order the book.
- What we need from you
- The identity sheet or the details to build one, any reviews you can quote with permission, and your distribution and wholesaler arrangements.
- What you receive
- A Portable Document Format (PDF) file you can attach to an email, the same sheet published on your media kit, and a copy in your Author Profile.
- What the outside platform controls
- Libraries decide what they buy and through which supplier. A good sheet makes the case; it does not make the purchase.
- Typical timing
- Usually one week after the identity sheet exists.
- Outside fees
- None.
- What counts as complete
- The PDF is delivered, the page is published, and both are recorded in your Author Profile.
- Price
- $49 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Metadata correction log
Every place the book's details are wrong, who fixes it, and the request sent.
What you receive: The correction log with every difference, what was requested where, the request references we were given, and the list of asks that are yours or your publisher's to make.
$39 for one book
One payment, for one book. Nothing renews.
The terms of it
- What we do
- We compare the major listings against your identity sheet, log every difference with a link and a screenshot, send the correction requests each platform accepts from us, and write out what to ask for where only you or your publisher can ask.
- What we need from you
- The identity sheet or the book's correct details, and your retailer and catalog addresses if you know them.
- What you receive
- The correction log with every difference, what was requested where, the request references we were given, and the list of asks that are yours or your publisher's to make.
- What the outside platform controls
- Every retailer, catalog, and reader site decides whether to accept a correction, how long it takes, and whether its next data feed overwrites the fix. Some only accept changes from the publisher or distributor of record.
- Typical timing
- The check and the log take about one week. Platform responses take from days to months, and some never come.
- Outside fees
- None from us. If a platform charges for a change, we tell you the amount first and you decide.
- What counts as complete
- The log is delivered and the requests that can be sent have been sent and recorded with their references. Whether a platform accepts a change is its decision, not part of what you are buying.
- Price
- $39 for one book. One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
Tools from other companies
We do not run these and cannot promise what they do for your book. Read their own terms before you sign up.
PodMatch
Matches guests with podcast hosts looking for them, so you can find shows that fit your book and get booked as a guest.
When it helps: When you are building your podcast list and pitching shows, usually from three months before publication onward.
PodMatch sets its own price. You sign up with PodMatch and pay PodMatch, not us. We do not set the price and we do not handle the money.
This is a referral link: if you sign up through it, AuthorChecklist.com may be paid. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we say about the tool.
Where the rest of it is
The full terms of every service, what we never do, and what we do not promise are on the How we can help page. What comes free with an Author Profile and what a book adds are on the pricing page, and everything the site does is listed on Features.
One payment, no subscription. All sales are final.
