IndieReader Discovery Awards
IndieReader
In short
The IndieReader Discovery Awards are run by IndieReader, a review site for self-published and independently published books. Recognition circulates within the self-publishing community, where IndieReader's reviews and sticker already appear; it does not tend to register with trade buyers or the library review press. Independent authors and small publishers enter through the site, with a fee per title. The official pages could not be read when this record was checked, so confirm the current fee, deadline, and copy requirements before entering.

Every label is a fact from the official rules, never a judgment about whether the award is worth entering. How we describe awards.
We have not confirmed the current deadline and the entry fee. We could not confirm this record's current rules against the official source. Read it as background, not as a deadline: nothing here sets a date on your checklist or sends you a reminder until we have checked it. Read the official rules (opens in a new tab).
The IndieReader Discovery Awards (IRDAs) are run by IndieReader, a review site and marketing service focused on self-published and independently published books. The program is open to independent authors and small publishers, with fiction and nonfiction as the main divisions and additional subject categories.
Entries are filed through the IndieReader site with a fee per title and a smaller fee for each extra category, and the deadline falls early in the year. Winners are announced in late spring, and the program's connection to IndieReader's coverage, including reviews and features on the site, is part of what entrants pay for.
The official pages couldn't be opened when this record was prepared, so the current fee, deadline, and copy requirements aren't recorded here.
Why it may matter
The IRDAs are best known within the self-publishing community, where IndieReader reviews and its "IR Approved" sticker already circulate. Winning brings coverage on IndieReader and a seal; it does not tend to register with trade buyers or the library review press. The program suits an author who is already using IndieReader's services and wants a placement that its readership will see.

Worth knowing
Our reading, not a rule the organization published. We judge an award on the rubric in how we describe awards.
IndieReader also sells paid reviews. A review is not required to enter the awards and an award entry does not include one; keep the two purchases separate when budgeting. The awards pages at indiereader.com (opens in a new tab) still refuse an automated request, so the entry deadline, the fee, and the current cycle year are not recorded here and this record will not produce a deadline. As of September 16, 2026 indiereader.com/the-discovery-awards/ (opens in a new tab) and the site's home page still refused an automated request, so the next cycle could not be checked. Check the official page before planning or paying.
Rules and deadlines change. We last checked this information on September 14, 2026. If you see something that needs updating, please tell us.
